US Army Quartermaster Corps


The Quartermaster Hall of Fame award is the highest form of recognition the Corps offers. This much coveted award honors individuals who are judged to have made the most significant contributions to the overall history and traditions of the Quartermaster Corps.

Colonel Greg Townsend earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Science from Auburn University and commissioned through ROTC in 1996 in the Quartermaster Corps. His career spanned a variety of impactful assignments including: Company Executive Officer and Brigade Staff Officer, Southern Euro- pean Command, Vincenza, Italy; Battalion Operations Officer, 407th Forward Support Battalion; with 2nd Brigade Combat Team to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom; Joint Chiefs of Staff Internship Program, then Joint Staff, J3, Joint Operations Division and Department of the Army Staff, Logistics Readiness Division, Washington, D.C.; Battalion Executive Officer, 307th Brigade Support Battalion and Brigade S4, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Air- borne Division, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom; Secretary of the General Staff for 82nd Airborne Division; Deputy Chief of Staff for Regional Command South in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom and Battalion Commander, Group Support Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Carson, Colorado. Colonel Townsend positively impacted thousands of Soldiers as the 23rd Quartermaster Brigade Commander
