HONORS

The Quartermaster Hall of Fame award is the highest form of recognition the Corps offers. This much coveted award honors individuals who are judged to have made the most significant contributions to the overall history and traditions of the Quartermaster Corps.

COL William M. Causey, Jr.
Class of 2014

Colonel William M. Causey, Jr. was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina.  He was educated in Greensboro and attended and graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.  He enlisted in the US Army, graduated from Engineer Officer Candidate School and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in Quartermaster. 

COL Causey’s major assignments include Battalion Personnel and Administration Officer (S-1), Republic of Vietnam; Chief of the Administration and Supply Branch, Airborne Department, US Army Quartermaster Center & School, Fort Lee, Virginia; Aerial Delivery Exchange Officer, Royal Australian Army, Richmond, New South Wales, Australia; Division Parachute Officer, 82d Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Chief, Division Materiel Management Officer, 82d Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Chief of Quartermaster Branch, Officer Personnel Management Directorate, US Army Personnel Command and Chief, Supply & Maintenance Policy, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Logistics, Headquarters, U.S. Army, the Pentagon. 

COL Causey commanded at every level from platoon to Division Support Command.  He commanded a Student Company, Engineer School Brigade at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Next, he commanded the Supply Company, 173d Support Battalion, 173d Airborne Brigade, Republic of Vietnam and, later, command of the QM Aerial Delivery Company, 426th Supply & Service Battalion, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.  Colonel Causey assumed command of the 299th Support Battalion, 1st Infantry Division (Forward), Goeppingen, Federal Republic of Germany.  Additionally, he commanded the Division Support Command, 7th Infantry Division (Light), Fort Ord, California.  In his final command tour, Causey commanded the Carolina Brigade, 1st ROTC Region, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.   Colonel Causey’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Legion of Merit (3d OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (2d OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2d OLC), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Master Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Air Assault Badge, Parachute Rigger Badge, Army Staff Identification Badge and numerous foreign awards, decorations and honors.
