The Quartermaster Hall of Fame award is the highest form of recognition the Corps offers. This much coveted award honors individuals who are judged to have made the most significant contributions to the overall history and traditions of the Quartermaster Corps.

CSM Vera Harris
Class of 2010

CSM Harris is a native of Big Sandy, Texas but grew up in Dallas, Texas. She enlisted in the United States Army on November 10, 1075 and received her Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Her military career has been marked with a variety of leadership positions and assignments. She has served in various Logistics assignments in such places as 1st Medical Battalion, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas, 8th Infantry Division, Germanv, 1st Battalion 1st Armored Division at Fort Knox, Kentucky, 143rd Signal Battalion, 3rd Armored Division in Germany, Dugway Proving Grounds in Utah, 63rd Engineer Battalion, Fort Sill; 4th Support and 4th Military Police Company, Fort Carson Colorado, 12th Aviation Brigade, Germany, 1st Battalion, 501st  Aviation Battalion in Korea, 12th Aviation Brigade Task Force in Hungary, The United States Army Field Artillery Training Center at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, the 23rd Quartermaster Brigade at Fort Lee, Virginia, the Regimental Support Squadron at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and most recently served for 15 months with the 1st Armored Division in Iraq. CSM Harris returned from Iraq and served as the Regimental Support Squadron CSM where she was responsible for ensuring all remaining Soldiers were properly retired, PCS’d or were on their way to the 2nd Cavalry Regiment in Fort Lewis, Washington as a result of this Regiment deactivation and reactivation to Fort Lewis, Washington.

CSM Retired Harris is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, and holds a Masters’ Degree, Certified Food Safety Executive, and Certified Food Production Manager, HAACP certified, Certified Food Service Adjutant Instructor and certified Teacher’s Aide. 
 Her awards and decorations include Bronze Star Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), Army commendation Medal (with V Device), numerous other medals and other awards. She is a recipient of the Military Order of Saint Martin Quartermaster Award. the Noble Patron of the Order of the Calvary and the Combat Spur AwardCSM Harris is a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Iron Saber and is the first female CSM to serve in an Armored Cavalry Regiment during the Iraq War.
